Yeah! Uploaded my short story titled Murder in Blue Lake to both Smashwords and Amazon. I was scared that the “MeatGrinder” would be a problem, but it wasn’t. Easy, Peasy…
Except, Smashwords did something weird. They added a short table of contents with link. Short stories really don’t need a TOC, so ???
Anyway, I should probably look back through the styleguide. I probably missed something.
Oh well, I learn best through hands-on, so that’s the way the cookie crumbles. 😀
One thing I have learned is that it’s dang hard to do an ebook cover. I used canva.com, which is a great site, but that wasn’t the hard part. The hard part was knowing what type of picture to use, the right font, etc.
I’ve read a lot about it, and am still learning. I kept it simple. I’ve read where people say that’s the easiest way to stay out of trouble – lol.
When I finish my book Shadow World, which honestly, I’m going to just redraft, back to the drawing table and all, I’ll try to convince the hubs that we should spring a bit of $$ for a “REAL” designer to create a cover.
Besides, even though I always try my best to make a cover look good, from a “profit” outlook, it makes more sense to save the design $$ for novels, rather than short stories.
May change my mind later, who know, but for now, that’s what I’ll do.

I know I said in my last post that I was going to go to work on the short story titled The Rot. Well, I started, but maybe it’s because I had some characters already thought up that it’s making it kind of hard.
I like to start with a title, or even better, a first line. Sometimes even a picture is all it takes to get the creative juices flowing. I write into the dark, so outlining throws me for a loop. I’m not outlining, really, but…let’s just say I’m stuck.
Going to go back at it today and next week. Don’t know if it will be a short story, or a longer piece, but should be fun to find out!
