Mayhem

Definition, according to dictionary.com

1350-1400; Middle English maheym, maim < Anglo-French mahe(i)m, mahaim < Germanic; akin to Middle High German meidem gelding, Old Norse meitha to injure.

Not a nice word, but I’m told I have to do it to my characters if I want to make them real.

Of course I’m not saying that I’ve got to kill them…although sometimes that’s necessary…but I’ve got to do things to them so that their character can be seen.

Funny, but the same thing happens in real life. Our true character…warts and all…is most visible when we’re going through the worst.

For example, anger, it seems, at least for me, is a catalyst for some horrid things leaving my mouth.

The great thing about being a writer is, that I can create characters who say and do more horrid things than myself.

Or I can create characters who are better than me..

It’s a “win-win” for me, either way! 😛

So…what’s the most horrible thing you’ve ever done to your people?
