Musings, Truth

About…Hope

I used to be a news junkie.

It all started with the hearings on the Iran Contra “affair”.

Until then, I’d had no real interest in politics or what was happening in the world…I lived my life, went to work, paid the bills and that was pretty much it. The news was just a blip in the background, nothing more.

But then…I saw the “hero”…you know, Olliver (Ollie) North, being grilled and all of a sudden it was interesting to me.

Don’t know why, and truth be told I really didn’t understand much of what I was watching, but for some reason that spurred me to watch – and pay more attention to – the news.

I remember being so happy when “the wall” was torn down…but ask the people in West Berlin what they thought about it and you might learn that not all of them were pleased with the destruction of the wall.

Point is, in the past few years I’ve learned that so much of what I was told or was led to believe simply wasn’t true, or was only part of the story.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how depressing that can be.

And the closer we get to the return of our King, the more the enemy “seems” to be winning.

And all of that winning will eat away at your hope…if you let it.

I’m still a bit of a news junkie, but now I’ve learned to season it…liberally season it…with TRUTH.

I see what’s going on in this world…I see the evil that’s happening…and know in my heart that the rabbit hole gets much, much deeper and much, much darker…

And if I don’t fill my heart with TRUTH, if I don’t focus on Him and His Word…I feel despair…and that despair ultimately leads to the THEFT OF MY HOPE!

Psalm 119:114: Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Abide in HIM…that is where YOUR HOPE resides.

And in HIM is where YOUR STRENGTH lies.

STRENGTH to DEFEAT the ENEMY…through CHRIST!

Nehemiah 8:10 Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

  1. Thank you for your words. It was encouraging to my heart. Thank you for sharing your HOPE; it made me realize that I am not alone in this wilderness.

I am very glad I could encourage you. God always has a remnant of people who seek to do His will… There are more of us than either you or I can see right now. It’s part of the Enemy’s battle plan to discourage God’s people because discouraged people don’t act.
God bless and keep you and your family… Keep your battle armor on!
