It’s All Been a Lie!

“Dammit Jane…I told you the Earth was flat. But no, you didn’t believe me. Jane…Jane!”

Jane Belkins gaped, staring out the window of the shuttle, trying to ignore her boyfriend’s incessant nagging.

Her mind refused to believe what her eyes were clearly showing her. Her home for the past 30 years of her life wasn’t what she’d been told it was.

It wasn’t a globe…it wasn’t perfectly flat, either. In fact, it looked like…well, she had to admit that it looked like a Moon Pie.

It looked exactly like one of those tasty chocolatey, marshmallow treats she’d loved as a child.

She could almost envison a giant hand grasping the “pie”, shoving it towards a giant hole of a mouth.

“Jane…”

The statistician jumped. Her boyfriend pulled his hand back from her neck. “Sorry, but…”

“No, that’s fine. Sorry.”

She hated to admit it. Her boyfriend, the man she’d always lovingly referred to as the “king of conspiracy theories”, was right. Well, partly right, anyway. He’d said it was flat, but…well, she’d give it to him. This time.

She looked at him. His sideways grin said it all. “Alright, alright…you’re right.”

His grin expanded, all the way up to his eyes.

She couldn’t stand it…

“But…only half right…it looks like a Moon Pie to me.”
