I was kidnapped by aliens…er…not really

Beautiful symmetry

Beautiful symmetry

Thought that the idea I was kidnapped by “off-worlders” would suffice, but no, in fact, (thank God) I’ve not been kidnapped and in fact, I was here the whole time…

Busy, yes, but not TOO busy to write something…anything.

Lazy…oh God, yes…but only SOMEWHAT lazy. Still managed to get my client work done.

No excuses, none.

Not even the “alien” excuse gets me out of the fact that I’ve let this little blog collect electronic dust.

Sigh.

I also wish I could say that I’ve been so BUSY working on my story, Visitor to Blue Lake: A Jazz and Slade Story, but alas, no. I’ve been avoiding it.

Why?

Fear. Yeah, lots of that going on.

Fear of it being yuck. (More seasoned professionals tell me that we are our own worst judges of our writing).

Fear of hate mail/bad reviews. (Again, pros to the rescue telling me not to read reviews)

Fear of getting stuck. (Gotta push through it they tell me. Of course they’re right…aren’t they always, those long time pros? Or, at least most of the time they’re right. At the end of the day I’ve got to try new things, take what works for me and discard the rest, because EVERY WRITER IS DIFFERENT.)

Funny how we’ve all got so many of the same fears, though.

Maybe there’s a little imp who visits each and every writer on the planet, trying to throw fear in our hearts and doubt in our minds.

Somebody please put a hit out on that guy… 🙂

So for now, I’ll write, get into a HABIT of writing EVERY DAY and not worry so much about whether or not my work sucks. I’ll just keep sharing and writing and learning and expanding my writing skills with each new story.

Now…on to more PRACTICE (a/k/a writing)!
