I’ve been kicking around a story for about 4 or 5 years now. Sad, I know. But no matter how hard I try to kill it, it just keeps coming back.
Ever had that happen to you?
It’s like something caught in your throat…you cough and “ahem” but the feeling won’t go away.
So…after I wrap up Visitor to Blue Lake: A Jazz and Slade Story by the end of this month (GOAL)…I’ll start telling Chrissy’s story.
I’ve written a lot of words already in those 4 to 5 years, but it’s been so long now since I’ve touched the story I’m pitching those words and going to redraft from the beginning.
I’ve got a feeling that it’s going to be a long one, so don’t know if it will be a novel, or a series…my creative voice will just have to figure it out.
But the problem is, I get bored easily.
I mean REALLY easily…so I’ll have to write the novel quickly to avoid getting bored. Especially since I’ve already written some of her story.
But, I’m a different writer now than I was a few years ago – hopefully somewhat better than I was then – so we’ll see how this goes. 😉
I have to keep reminding myself to keep the writing fun. (as Dean Wesley Smith advises)
Because after all, “we’re just sitting in the dark making shit up”. (thanks again to the wise words of Dean Wesley Smith) 😉
